About Dean A. Groetzinger

Mr. Groetzinger has over 42 years of experience in program and project management, resource supervision and allocation, research and development, IT, environmental restoration, chemical and coal preparation, and plant design and construction. He has supported NE for over 31 years and is one of the original team members that developed PICS. Mr. Groetzinger’s has extensive experience with the INL and DOE-ID/NE extending to activities associated with the environmental restoration and waste management programs, leading an effort to establish a rigorous process for remedial design and remedial action planning and estimating; to providing strategic/specialized staff support to the Laboratory Director’s Office, Office of the President, and R&D management. Mr. Groetzinger has worked to establish various functions relating to Laboratory revitalization and strategic communications; creating a rigorous and credible peer review process to strategically manage the logistics/arrangements and general protocol associated with visits from high-level individuals. This required an extensive amount of experience and knowledge of the broad range of activities taking place at the Laboratory and the Site Facilities from operations and environmental management to basic and applied engineering and science; close coordination with senior management; an extensive network of internal and external contacts; and a rapport and insightful working relationships with a large and diverse group of researchers, scientists, and engineers, both with the Lab and DOE. Over the years Mr. Groetzinger has been routinely engaged in tasks that require considerable due diligence as far as research, review and thoughtful analysis; often being directly sought out to support challenging/ complicated tasks. Mr. Groetzinger is considered to be an expert in program/project management, Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Certification including associated training and process certification validation; Integrated Baseline development and has supported the development of a variety of required supporting documentation (Project Management Plans and Project Execution Plans and other associated documentation).
