Dean has over ten years of experience using building energy analytics to inform policy and program design. In this area, he makes extensive use of his expertise in parametric building simulation, building science principles, and knowledge of energy efficient technologies. Clients have included the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), international entities and companies seeking multi-sector greenhouse gas marginal abatement curves, organizations developing building efficiency offset protocols, and utilities with demand management programs. Project work has also included the development of electronic tools, including a workbook for estimating residential emissions credits, predictive savings tools for utility programs, ICF International’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management System (GEMSTM), as well as maintaining and utilizing a proprietary modeling program to simulate energy consumption and environmental impacts of millions of residential and commercial building configurations Specialties: Residential energy efficiency, building simulation, policy design, cost effectiveness evaluation
