Experienced Bridge Engineer with a demonstrated history of leading teams and multi-disciplinary groups of professionals to successful accomplishments in the transportation/bridge industry. Skilled in Engineering Management, Bridge Management, Bridge Design and Construction, Program/Project Management, and Customer Service within a Governmental Agency. Graduate of Old Dominion University (BS - 1986 & MS - 1992). In my current role as District Structure and Bridge Engineer, my primary duties are:* Managing all areas of the Salem District Structure & Bridge Office, including bridge safety inspection, bridge maintenance, new design, construction support, and the bridge maintenance crews. Responsible for diverse staff of full-time employees, ranging in roles from professional engineers to bridge maintenance supervisors.* Managing multiple programs and initiatives, including the bridge safety inspection program, bridge maintenance program, dedicated bridge program (new construction), and bridge maintenance crews, and general office administration.* Determining the goals and objectives to the Salem District bridge program and aligning resources in such a manner as to accomplish those goals and objectives.* Providing technical advice to ensure that all activities are accomplished in accordance with state and federal policies.* Communicating with citizens and outside agencies concerning bridge related issues and concerns.* Managing Consultant design of bridge projects.* Reviewing and monitoring bridge performance measures to ascertain current condition of bridge inventory and evaluate effectiveness of current our program.* Coordinating work with bridge crews and ensure these crews have adequate funds, equipment, and personnel to execute assigned tasks.* Evaluating staff training needs and arranging for training where needed.
