About Dean Horsten

I am a 33-year-old from Johannesburg, South Africa with 12 years working experience in IT. I started as a motor mechanic after school but soon progressed to a wireless technician installing equipment on masts, once I was in the I.T industry I started to learn and soon became a support engineer configuring and programming wireless equipment throughout Africa.I progressed to become a lead engineer managing teams, Soon after became a field engineer for remote site management company where I moved up within 3 months to a sales engineering position where I owned several regions/customers as well as started programming in some relevant languages. I moved CSE Systems Engineer for Aruba Networks where I was the first engineer in country and grew the region too over 10 Employees, this is the company where I learnt all my networking and Rf skills to the highest degree possible. I then moved to Fortinet to start the Wireless devision as a Systems Engineer where I grew my skills as a security engineer. My goals are a happy customer. I am always willing to work hard but always balance with a good social life too including many hobbies and sports. I have qualifications in Juniper / Cisco / Redline / Tropos / Aruba / Fortinet to some of the highest levels. I have to date started up three successful American vendors in Africa "Westell formally known as Kentrox"​,"Aruba Networks" being employee number 1 at each company, I grew Fortinet Africa Wireless and Wired devision which is now a successful business. I do focus on my technical skills but as a package I have many more skills that is required in my day to day job and can be dynamic to any degree, skills such as management, presentations, technical integration, sales, marketing, training etc I have moved on since to start my own company "MySky Networks" which has grown over 100% year on year for the last 4 years and become a major player in the IT industry including 1 of two Platinum Partner Status of "Aruba Networks", We are are MSP gold partner @ Fortinet and provide full turn key solutions to our customers."MySky Networks" is now a group of companies that I manage and look after from a technical perspective as the Founder and CTO of the business. On the side I contract to "SkyFii" a data analytics and big data company to fulfil my need to learn the latest and greatest industry trends.
