About Dean Rivers

As of August 2022, I was given the opportunity to work with BECU; it's a career change, and I'm intrigued to see what I'm capable of. Before that, I worked with GameStop for 15 years, across three states, in eight stores. Once I was given the opportunity to manage a store, I found a passion for continual development - improving myself with in-house training programs, being inclusive and diverse in interviews to find the right types of employees, and training assistant managers and shift lead employees up to becoming managers themselves. My company recognized this as a key skill set of mine and allowed me to become a Store Leader Mentor in Washington - expanding to an Area Leader in Georgia - allowing me to visit and support stores beyond my district. Some of my favorite moments in my career were when I would hear an employee I hired or trained got to the point of managing their own store. I also heavily focused on customer service. improving the net promoter score of every store I ran. Between myself and my team of staff, we won six awards from the company for customer service. The company often changed, setting up new initiatives, and I became a point person in our district in terms of how to roll out and maintain these changes, from new ranges of products sold in the store, to omnichannel relaunching, to new subscription programs developed for our most loyal customers.
