About Dean Rowatt

Almost 20 years ago soon after graduating with an Information Technology degree I started my Transportation career with Trapeze Software Group based in Mississauga Ontario Canada. I traveled within the United States, UK and Canada implementing the Trapeze Fixed Route, Info Agent and Demand Response software. I would set up a brand new Oracle or SQL database from scratch, install the software and then train the staff. I quickly realized how much transportation software was greatly needed throughout the industry world wide. I later moved to the United States and joined MV Transportation. I developed software, provided training, created and customized reports using Crystal Reports software, I designed and developed the first generation software known within the industry as the MV Monitors which has revolutionized the para transit industry by drastically improving On-Time Performance and Productivity. I spent some of my time as an interim Operation Manager and General Manager. To be closer to my family I moved to Atlanta as a Project Manager\Engineer for Siemens VDO where I learned another side to the transportation industry known as Computer Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Locators(CAD/AVL). I worked closely with the staff at MARTA and our engineers to insure the CAD/AVL system had met their expectations and the specifications stated within the contract. After successfully closing the AVL contract I had wanted to stay in Atlanta so I decided to join the public sector of the industry and work for MARTA where I managed and maintained the Radio and CAD/AVL system.
