About Dean Schultz

Been there, done that' as a marketing researcher and consultant for more than 30 years, I have extensive senior-level management experience in both corporate and supplier positions. Skilled in all types of quantitative and qualitative research, I am a hands-on practitioner who has successfully addressed a wide range of strategic and tactical marketing issues with custom research solutions. Having consulted with companies in dozens of industries, I am one of the country's leading experts in automotive and utility marketing research. My clients have included Fortune 500 corporations, industry and professional associations, non-profit organizations, advertising agencies, and public relations firms. Areas of particular expertise include corporate/brand image and positioning, new product development, customer satisfaction and loyalty, long-term strategy identification, marketing programs development / evaluation, and advertising and communications. In addition to being an insightful research consultant and strategic thinker, I am also a talented focus group moderator and depth interviewer. Currently, I am a Research Manager at Southern California Edison, as well as Senior Research Consultant with Decision Research Strategies. I have taught marketing research and marketing communications courses at the University of California-Irvine and California State University-Fullerton. On the supplier side, I was Senior Vice President with Data Development Corporation (now Radius Global) and also managed client service offices for leading research firms such as Elrick & Lavidge, NOP Research, and Wirthlin Worldwide. Prior to that, I spent 13 years as a research manager and senior analyst at Ford Motor Company - and was the principal research consultant for many of Ford’s most successful vehicle programs. I hold an MBA degree with emphasis in marketing and marketing research from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management.
