About Dean Smith

I began my career in 1989 with Ingleton Wood, a private Building Surveying practice. I then moved to Lloyd’s of London and ultimately became the Projects and Estates Contracts Administrator before joining Arthur Andersen as their UK Facilities Project Manager in 1996. I joined WT Partnership as a Director in initially working in Eastern Europe mainly managing commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects and providing associated FM advice. I returned to the UK in September 2001 and became responsible for the management of WT Partnership’s North & Midlands’ regional offices as well as the leading the FM and Building Consultancy team throughout the UK. From 1st June 2018 I became the Joint Managing Director for WT Partnership (UK & Europe). I have been involved in a wide variety of FM commissions and the management of capital projects in a variety of sectors, including: • Universities • Police and fire authorities • Local authorities and central government departments • Speculative office developments • Office fit-outs • Aircraft maintenance hangars • Aviation training academy • Healthcare projects including catering area refurbishment, new MRI suite, neuro-theatre fit-out • Project audits • FM audits and strategy development • Establishment of hard and soft FM contracts • PFI advisory roles Specialties: Project management Facilities management strategy Public sector procurement Development management PFI contract advice
