I am the Tax Manager in the Finance department at BC Hydro since July 2021 and before that I was the Senior Tax Analyst. The Tax Team deals with GST, PST, non-resident withholding tax, taxable benefits, fuel taxes and carbon tax. I started my indirect tax career in 1991 in Ottawa with the GST Consumer Information Office and became a Senior GST Technical Interpretations officer with Canada Revenue Agency in Vancouver, providing rulings on a wide variety of topics. I have worked at PwC (Vancouver and Ottawa) from 2001 to 2017 and provided GST/HST, QST and PST advice, audit assessment and support services, compliance support services to private and public companies, public service body clients including charities and universities. During the transition to HST in BC in 2010, I gave presentations to clients and also presented at the Surrey Board of Trade and the Fraser Valley CGAs. I was also a federal registered lobbyist to effectively lobby the Department of Finance to obtain specific zero-ratings. Specialties: Indirect Tax (GST/HST, PST) specialist.
