About Dean Swerdlin

Mr. Dean Swerdlin is an International and Community Development Project Manager. He has worked for 20+ years as a consultant on international development projects, including urban environmental management, GIS mapping and spatial analysis, water resource management, WASH, CLTS, urban planning, housing, solid waste, infrastructure construction and maintenance, municipal finance and development, and environmental impact assessments & mitigation (EMMPs). He has designed implemented, managed, monitored, and evaluated programs, led participatory budgeting and planning processes with a wide range of stakeholders, and provided training to staff and volunteers to build organizational, institutional and technical capacity. He has designed community and good governance programs for improved service delivery. Mr. Swerdlin has extensive experience with training staff and beneficiaries, training of trainers (TOT), conducting performance appraisals, admin-and HR, team building workshops, participatory planning and implementation, and presentations at national and international conferences. Mr. Swerdlin worked for 5 years as a housing and urban development officer for USAID responsible for planning and managing, service delivery, shelter and urban programs in the Near East-North Africa region. He worked for 3 years with the U.S. Peace Corps OTAPS office to program and train several hundred Peace Corps volunteers to manage community water / sanitation / hygiene and environmental health projects. He worked for 3 years as a rural infrastructure architect in Togo, West Africa, designing community health and education facilities, and advising the Ministry of Social Affairs on rural development and social services projects. Mr. Swerdlin worked for 7 years on architectural and environmental design jobs, computer graphics and web-site design, GIS mapping, drafting, and planning. Has held top security clearances and positions for US Government jobs.
