About Dean Talbot

Dean Talbot – Managing Director Dean has been Managing Talbot Security Group since 2007 when he and his wife started the company. He has over 30 years of experience in both the private security industry and the New Zealand Defense Force. Dean is a very hands-on manager and has expertise in all aspects of land-based security and protection. Dean’s responsibilities include business development, strategic planning, health & safety, project management, financial control, and training of his officers and staff out in the field. In August 2021, Dean and his wife Lucia, purchased Masterguard Fire and Security which is also based in Ashburton. This added value to their brand, making Talbot Security Group the largest private security company in Mid/South Canterbury. Dean has been studying martial arts for over 37 years and has been running his own classes since 2003. Currently, he provides a range of courses such as the ‘anti-rape’ awareness course and street self-defense awareness training course. Dean also runs Hostile Environment Awareness Training for humanitarian aid workers who are working in war-torn countries around the world and has the Southern Hemisphere contract. Dean is involved in several local community groups such as the Ashburton Rotary Club and was a trustee in the Ashburton Youth Institute (a local youth at risk programme). In recent times, he has been volunteering to mentor and work with youth offenders who are completing their community work hours. When Dean is not working, he enjoys family time with his wife, Lucia, and two children, Amelia, and Finn. Dean also loves the outdoors and is often out in the hills hunting deer and pigs. Dean and Lucia reside in Ashburton with their children and the rest of the Talbot families.
