Background
About Dean Thorpe
A 30 year veteran of broadcast journalism in western Canada. I began my career as an intern at 1420 CJVR in Melfort SK. From there, I briefly worked at GX-94 in Yorkton before spending 5 years as News Director of 1280 CJSL in Estevan Sk, and 2 years as News Director of SUN102, based at that time in Saskatoon. From there, I moved to Alberta to become network news anchor for the Nornet group of stations, prior to joining Newcap and CFCW. I've been hosting the hour long Alberta Ag Show for the past decade, which has given me the incredible opportunity to travel around the world. I'm very interested in mentoring young broadcasters to help them further their career. I'm also interested in freelance writing and broadcasting opportunities in the fields of agriculture, politics and general news.
