About Dean Truman

On leaving school with 4 CSE's and 4 O'levels I joined the Royal Navy and trained as a radar operator. having spent 6 years in the RN I left and worked in security for the next 3.5 years. Mainly gate security and also site security. I then went to work at Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 on a seasonal contract in passenger services for 4 months. shortly after that went on to become a team leader for a logistical firm ensuring orders were picked and despatched in a timely manner and all relevant paperwork was completed and correct. This also included stock management and dealing directly with clients and customers. My next job was in a warehouse for a small family run electrical tools company. I was 1 of a 3 man team dispatching large orders of tools to major electrical companies across the country. After relocating to the south of England I went back into security for a short period of time before starting work with Hampshire Police as a Detention Officer working in the custody unit at Southampton police station. After nearly 6 years with Hampshire I moved to Bedfordshire having been accepted for the same role within Bedfordshire Police. That was in April 2006. After a further 12.5 years working in custody I changed roles in December 2018 to the Front desk/enquiry office at Luton police station. This involves dealing with members of the public and assisting them with their queries, taking details of crimes, arranging appointments, dealing with seized vehicles and also creating "jobs" for incidents that require immediate allocation to police officers. These include Domestic assaults, burglaries, concerns for safety/welfare and missing persons reports, amongst other things. having taken Voluntary Redundancy from Beds Police I was due to start work with Arriva bus services. Unfortunately Covid-19 has put a stop to this initially but will be moving forward in the future. I currently work in the warehouse at the UK National Biosample Centre in Milton Keynes where the Covid-19 samples are tested. This is a contract that was due to run until the end of September 2021. The contract keeps extended so no idea when it will end now. Whilst working here I have gained my counterbalance licence. What will the future hold for me beyond then?
