About Deanna Nichols

I am an EMDR trained, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Certified Hypnotherapist, and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I am dedicated to helping individuals achieve a sense of well-being, self-worth, empowerment, and happiness by creating a safe, positive, and healing counseling environment. I believe individuals have the power to change if given the needed tools. As a registered dietitian and counselor, I have a unique outlook and approach to eating disorders and weight issues. Many weight problems are caused by some sort of trauma, whether it is a form of abuse, bullying, or problems in the home. Children don't have the tools to help analyze trauma/abuse/parental issues. They have to find ways to make sense of it and continue living life. Unfortunately, the coping skills a child may use to survive, such as eating for comfort or stealing food, may work for them at the time, but work against them as an adult. I work through these issues so that you are eating for survival instead of eating for emotional needs. Using an empathetic, straightforward approach, I work to help you achieve your personal goals and develop the ability to feel complete and at peace with yourself. I want you to recognize and develop the unique strengths already inherent within you. I am a Certified Personal Trainer and a big proponent of exercise and its power to improve the physical, mental, and spiritual state of a person. I agree with Joshua J. Marine who said "Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful."
