About Deatra Thomas

As an SSD Clerk at the United States Postal Service, I manage and coordinate the delivery of mail and parcels to various destinations. I have been working in this role since January 2023, and I enjoy the challenge of ensuring timely and accurate service to our customers. I also have a keen interest in environmental health and safety, which is why I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies at North Carolina A&T University, expected to graduate in May 2024. Before joining the USPS, I worked as a Property and Evidence Technician at the City of Charlotte for over two years, where I gained valuable experience in collecting, preserving, and analyzing evidence from crime scenes, using various forensic science methods and tools. I also prepared and presented detailed reports and testified in court about my findings and procedures. In addition, I worked as an Intern Office Assistant at the City of Charlotte Water for three and a half years, where I handled orders, tracked and monitored crews, responded to public inquiries, and scheduled repairs and meetings. These roles enhanced my skills in office administration, record keeping, problem solving, and emergency response. I am a former military personnel, which has made me a well-adaptable person to any environment. I am always eager to learn new things and expand my knowledge and skills. I am looking for a long-term career that aligns with my passion for environmental and forensic science, and that allows me to contribute to the safety and well-being of the community.
