About Debbie Dunn

Hello. My name is Debbie Dunn, and I am a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with over four years of hands-on experience in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through Gardner-Webb University to further enhance my clinical expertise and expand my career opportunities in nursing. My professional journey is unique and multifaceted. I began my career as an ICU nurse, developing critical care skills and providing high-level care to patients in complex medical situations. After starting a family, I left nursing to raise and homeschool my four daughters. While homeschooling them, I simultaneously launched a personal training and nutritionist business, which I ran for 8 years. During this time, I helped clients improve their fitness and achieve their health goals through customized programs and nutritional guidance. This experience broadened my understanding of health, wellness, and preventative care, which I continue to integrate into my nursing practice. After over 22 years of homeschooling, my daughters are now thriving in their respective careers: my oldest is a veterinarian, my second is about to graduate nursing school (her 2nd bachelor's degree), my third is attending the prestigious U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and my youngest is a high school junior. I am still homeschooling my youngest daughter while balancing my studies and preparing to re-enter the workforce. These years of homeschooling and guiding my daughters have shaped my approach to leadership, learning, and patient care, and I continue to bring these values into my professional life. Throughout this time, I have kept my nursing license current, holding both a California RN license (where I worked in the ICU) and a North Carolina RN license, which is multi-state. I am committed to maintaining my professional qualifications while continuing my education. As I transition back into nursing, I am excited to bring my diverse skill set, leadership experience, and passion for healthcare to new roles in the field. I am eager to connect with fellow healthcare professionals, explore new opportunities in nursing, and innovate and impactfully contribute to patients' well-being.
