Dr Debbie Wake CEO/ clinical lead for MyWay Digital Health (MyDiabetesMyWay), and Reader/ Consultant Physician at University of Edinburgh/ NHS Lothian. She co-founded MyWay Digital Health in 2017 to improve health globally through data driven solutions. MyWay Digital Health and My Diabetes My Way have won major national/ international awards including Scottish Edge, BioDundee Pitch Perfect, Venture Award, the European E-health adopters award, DUK national self-management award. MWDH is on the National Innovation Accelerator (NIA) Programme, Digital Health London Accelerator and is supported by Scottish Enterprise (Unlocking Ambition), Innovate UK (SBRI, and Digital Health Technology Catalyst Awards), Digital Health Institute and Converge Challenge. MyDiabetesMyWay portal, app and website, enables all diabetes patients in Scotland to access clinical data and tailored educational resources on-line (currently registered) and is now being rolled out in NHS England and internationally. Academic research interests include novel technology approaches to patient and health professional education/ self management. Debbie was clinical lead for Kuwait Scotland eHealth Innovation Network delivering clinical support and postgraduate education (MSc Diabetes Care and Education) to healthcare workers in Kuwait/ programme director for MSC Quality Diabetes Care and FutureLearn Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). Debbie is a national Women in Innovation Award winner, a Diabetes UK clinical champion, has an active role in public health communication. She was resident doctor on STVs flagship show 'The Hour', is a regular contributor to radio health programming and was a health columnist for Scotland’s national newspaper 'The Scotsman' for many years.
