About Debbie Zigler

I have been in some form of the housing industry for my entire career. From working with the initial subsidized loans for multi-family housing to overseeing on-site social workers working with the elderly, disabled and families at those properties, I have a wide range of experience. My most impactful work has been managing a 36 bed homeless shelter and my most recent work with managing 30+ on site social workers (Service Coordinators) at scattered properties in 7 states. Working with the homeless, providing services and helping them reach their goals was such a profound learning experience and I will never forget how it made them, and I, feel when they were able to even the smallest of victories. I was also able to provide assistance for those nearing homelessness through the work and financial contributions available from the local ministerial association and by being the local Salvation Army Representative. From there my next step was managing social workers who helped elderly and disabled resident by connecting them to services within the community to allow them to leave more full and complete lives in their own homes rather than having to transition to a higher level of care. I was in on the groundwork of developing and establishing the standards and procedures to define this program. Another manager and I developed the standards, the goals and defined the program which was financed through governmental grants. We had to maintain the grants, budgets and guidelines defined by the grant whiles establishing company goals that exceeded most others in the industry. The program became a nationally known program for excellence within the rental housing industry. I was fortunate to be a part of both of these opportunities to provide needed assistance and which made a large impact on so many individuals and families as well as me.
