I have been in Insurance now for 9 years - I have had a few different roles but now am in my favorite role - a Salvage Adjuster. A salvage vehicle has been deemed a “total loss” by an insurance provider following a collision, natural disaster, riot, or other incident. This means that the cost to fix the car exceeds, or at least comes close to, its actual cash value (ACV). As a result, it's not worth it for the insurance company to cover the damage so the actual cash value of the vehicle is paid out to the insured. And then we sell the salvage to IAA - Insurance Auto Auctions. This is a much busier role than some would imagine and incredibly interesting.
