About Deblina Dey

I work as an Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University. I am also the Assistant Director of the Centre for Law and Humanities, where we try to do something creative vis-a-vis Law. I received my PhD & MPhil degrees from the Centre for the Study of Law & Governance, JNU, which is truly a fabulous place to pursue interdisciplinary studies & which also shaped my identity as a socio-legal scholar (besides being a social anthropologist). I am a qualitative researcher who enjoys doing ethnographic work. I teach and research in the area of 'Sociology of Law' and am invested in research on ageing, law and care. I am also interested in medical anthropology, sociology of crimes, custodial & carceral politics of the state, religion and kinship studies. Further, I’m willing to discuss prospects for individual consultancy (educational, legal, non-profit, development) and evolving projects related to older people's well-being. I'll be happy to connect with those who want to positively impact society through meaningful (elder) care-related interventions.
