About Deborah Brock-Doyle

A winter spent working for community based conservation projects in Tanzania and Madagascar strengthened my desire to continue helping conservation in any capacity on my return to the UK.The highlight in Tanzania was that, in a relatively short period of time, we were able to capture data and prepare a report which was presented to the district council and resulted in immediate action being taken to clear protected land. Tenacity, report writing and IT skills helped achieve this.The biggest challenges faced in Madagascar were motivating the resident staff and devising conservation projects and strategies to strengthen the protected area already under conservation. This included: a turtle conservation strategy; mangrove rehabilitation project; sustainable firewood practise and wildlife management practise.
