About Deborah Dorman

Currently working in Learning and Development at the County Court of Victoria, I bring a unique blend of creativity, empathy, and practical teaching expertise to the world of training and development. My journey began on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, where I pursued my passion for photography as a mature-age student. This foundation led to founding Wild Honey Photography, a successful wedding and portrait studio. In 2010, I embarked on a reverse sea change to Melbourne, where I transitioned into teaching photography at RMIT University—a role that allowed me to share my love for visual storytelling and inspire others. Nature has always been my muse, particularly through macro photography. I'm captivated by the intricate details others might overlook: the curl of a leaf, the glow of sunlight through grasses, or the structure of a wildflower. My work has been showcased in solo exhibitions and is part of private and public collections. I've also curated group shows, coordinated collaborative photography projects, and led a corporate camera club. As a parent of two remarkable adult children—a creative, quirky daughter and a charming special needs son—I’ve developed a deep well of patience, empathy, and adaptability. These qualities enrich my ability to foster engagement, collaboration, and growth, whether in the classroom or workplace. My mission in Learning and Development is to cultivate innovative, cohesive teams and design training experiences that empower individuals to thrive. When I'm not facilitating learning, you'll find me exploring nature with a camera in hand, always on the lookout for the next hidden masterpiece.
