About Deborah Fowler

I believe we all belong in nature and to each other. I find this connection is ancient, deep, and profound. My roots have been planted in Durham, North Carolina since the 1990s and in N.C. since birth. I identify as queer or lesbian, and am a second generation immigrant. I am becoming a certified PHP Developer to support Wake County's Natural Resources Inventory Database. I have already implemented successful repairs to the database. Mindfulness yoga and other meditative practices have benefited my well-being for decades. I became a certified Forest Therapy Guide in 2022 and offer virtual or in-person Forest Bathing experiences to help people cope with stressors and rekindle innate nature connection through Wake County's Human Resources department and also in Durham via Woodland Being. Over the last 20+ years, my career can be summed up as accomplished with the successful implementation of new endeavors from start to finish. I enjoy being a versatile puzzle solver and servant-leader. Broad experience includes planning, development, and operation of park and nature preserve facilities and services. Specific skills include budget requests and management, natural resource projects, volunteer coordination, positive public and partner communication, delivery of engaging public programs and training, and a myriad of marketing experience via website, social media, print-ready materials. I am proficient at team creation, team building, mentoring, planning, supervision, staff development and training. I actively participated on DEI team. My collaborative leadership style seeks solutions to support the vision and goals of the department and customers.
