About Deborah Harms

I am a psychologist in private practice in Beverly Hills, Michigan where I conduct psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with adults. I also provide supervision for many mental health professionals. I have over twenty-five years of experience. I receive referrals primarily from colleagues and satisfied clients. I provide traditional psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, and relational difficulties. I also have extensive experience working with couples. I was a Teaching Fellow at the University of Detroit, where I taught Introductory Psychology to undergraduates. I am currently on the Faculty of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute; where I have taught courses on clinical writing, theory and technique, ethics, trauma, treatment of character problems, as well as transition from psychotherapy to psychoanalysis. In addition to supervision of residents, I have taught case conference and various seminars to psychiatry residents at Wayne State University and Henry Ford Hospital. I have taught Basic Psychoanalytic Concepts to doctoral students at University of Detroit-Mercy where I also supervise clinical cases. I have presented locally at numerous seminars and at Faculty Development at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. I have presented nationally at the Annual Meetings of the American Psychoanalytic Association in Washington, D.C, San Francisco, and New York City. I am certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association in adult psychoanalysis.
