About Deborah Hass

I chose to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering because I enjoy the collaborative process of designing and problem solving ways to create safe, efficient, and cost effective infrastructure. Currently I am a student at the University of Kansas where I have been admitted to the Self Fellows program, work part-time at FedEx, and have an internship in Intelligent Transportation Systems with HDR. During my internship experience, I have had the opportunity to assist on multiple projects for KDOT, MODOT, St. Charles county, and the city of Spring Hill. I have enjoyed learning about conduit/fiber design, Intelligent Transportation System technology, traffic software, how to kick-off projects and project management workflow, and participating in company culture activities such as Kansas City Corporate Challenge and the Young Professionals Golf League. Safe and efficient transportation for all is crucial to our everyday lives and I see the future of intelligent transportation system technology as a growing, important aspect to the future of traffic safety and efficiency. In my free time I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with friends and family, playing tennis and golf, and cooking new recipes.
