About Deborah King

What fun I continue to have, managing my woman-owned small business (WOSB), Evolution Management, Inc.(EMI), for almost 30 years! I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved, and the meaningful projects we continue to support, primarily in the federal government sector (OD/HR/Training). As an active entrepreneur, I love all aspects of the business. Due to the growth and expansion of the business, I selected a few years ago to focus my attention on the marketing and business development functions, and to live vicariously through our staff as they focus on the consulting functions, providing them coaching and mentoring as opportunities present themselves. Just not enough time for everything! This business journey has allowed me the time to do many things I probably would not have done if I was internal to a large firm. I’ve had the opportunity to speak at many conferences and events, and I’ve authored several books including, Learning to Live With Downsizing, Position Your Next Move for a Successful Job Search, and most recently an update entitled, I Want THAT Job! I also regularly contribute to the EMI newsletter, as well as provide articles for two blogs, BizNext and Career GPS. Today I also enjoy writing children’s books for my grandchildren, family, and friends. The reward of hearing a parent say, “I have to hide the book because I’ve already read it 50 times! I need a break”, is quite a joy.
