About Deborah MacMillan

My nursing career has been dedicated to caring for women and babies. My goal as a nurse midwife goes beyond focusing only on birth, but on guiding women and mothers to be strong, competent and capable. My holistic approach to caring for women strives to encourage them to trust themselves and know their inner strength. My current clinical practice focuses on providing care to women who are homeless and in situations where they have limited choices about their healthcare. I am passionate about advocating for women who are at their weakest - to me this is the heart of nursing. My nursing career also encompasses the mentoring and education of students who are both entering the role of nursing for the first time as well as experienced nurses striving to reach the highest level of education with a Doctors of Nursing Practice degree. I want the next generation of nurses to know that nursing must always be more than a job that brings home a weekly paycheck, but a profession that demands the highest morale and ethical standards that human beings are capable of.
