About Deborah McKay

With has almost 4 decades experience in the medical research field Deborah began working at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with two of the founding scientists of NeuRA in 1986 as their laboratory manager undertaking lab based research, and moved into what was then the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute when it was established. Deb took a break from lab work and spent 5 years working in the UNSW Grants Office, picking up skills in research grant management and established a grants database while traveling around Australia advising researchers on “how to find grants for research”. She maintains ties with the UNSW Research Grants and Contracts and Research Ethics and Compliance Support offices. After further broadening her skill base she moved into a managerial position at NeuRA in 2001 covering many areas from Administration, HR and Facilities. Deb is currently the Research Governance and Compliance Manager where she is responsible for compliance in research grant, ethics, agreements, workplace safety to name just a few. Deb holds a Bachelor of Health Administration (UNSW), Pathology Technician Cert, Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment, and many other certificates in areas such as Contracts, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Workplace Safety.
