About Deborah Williamson McCabe

Currently, I am an Instructor of Education and the Kappa Delta Pi Program Coordinator at the University of Montana Western, in Dillon, Montana. As part of this role, I direct our Education club students in academic research and service to the university and the local community. I coordinate service-learning opportunities for our students. I am an Educational Specialist, with concentrations in reading instruction, literacy development, educational psychology, classroom management, and instruction for students with disabilities, especially as a result of behavioral and emotional issues. I received my BA from Boston College, Master of Science in Special Education from Simmons College, and Reading Endorsement from the University of Wyoming. With over twenty years working with students of varied cultures, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status in five states, I have a variety of skills which have brought me success as an educator for children, teens, and currently my young adult and nontraditional college students. Additionally, I am very committed to my physical and emotional health. I utilize numerous strategies to educate my college students in these areas as part of our courses. I also teach a core strength training class biweekly on campus for students, staff, and community members. My husband, Brent, directs the music program at UMW has served as the Fine Arts Chair and Division Chair. Outside of school, my husband and I are avid outdoor fans. We love snow/ water skiing, fly fishing, and hiking all over Montana, but especially around our lake property in the Flathead region with our daughter, Cayenne Summer. At home, I love fitness, music, fashion, literature, San Francisco and Boston sports, NCAA Basketball, and hockey, film and the culinary arts.
