About Debra Berman

Deb was the Chief Marketing Officer at both Yahoo and JCPenney, where she restored the customer base and brand health. She led Account Planning for Kraft Foods and held roles in advertising, brand strategy, and management consulting. Deb trained in graphic facilitation with The Grove Consultants International to integrate visual practices into strategy collaboration and team alignment. She has worked on brand strategies for over 150 brands, creating tools that improved marketing effectiveness and coordinated messaging in global organizations. Her experience includes J. Walter Thompson, Y&R Advertising, DDB Advertising, Swander Pace, and Sterling Brands consulting. Over 30 years, Deb has built expertise in reimagining brands and executing marketing across CPG, retail, and technology industries. In 2017, she formalized her consulting services to meet demand for brand and marketing leadership. Deb holds an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in English. She is certified in Board Governance from The Wharton School and advises a retail media technology company. Deb served on the boards of the ANA and The Voice of The Brand, was a client sponsor for the 4A’s, and earned accolades such as Brand Innovators Top 50 Women in Marketing, DFW CMO of the Year, Ad Age Media Maven, and Top Women in Omnichannel Retail. Deb has earned awards with her teams including Effies, Lions and One Show Pencils.
