About Debra Broussard

I live in central Mexico in San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO world heritage site. I am passionate about education, art and my adopted home. As President of the board of directors of the Biblioteca Publica de San Miguel de Allende A.C.(Biblioteca), I am responsible for overseeing the strategy and operations of the Biblioteca. The Biblioteca provides educational and cultural enrichment to the San Miguel de Allende community, academic scholarships and mentoring to local students, and is home to one of the largest bilingual lending libraries in Mexico. The Biblioteca is located in a 300-year-old colonial building in the Centro Historico colonia of San Miguel de Allende. Most classes and events are provided at minimal cost to the community in the Biblioteca’s open air patio, seated theater, dedicated art studio or in one of the beautiful reading rooms surrounding the patio. In addition to my involvement with the Biblioteca, I am an art dealer representing Mai Onno, a renowned painter born in Estonia in 1934, who studied art in Canada, Europe and Mexico, and has lived in Mexico since 1957. Mai continues to paint today in her studio in the Mexican countryside. Additionally, I represent the estates of influential German sculptor, Lothar Kestenbaum and his son, David Kestenbaum. Works by these artists have been exhibited in the finest galleries and museums in Mexico and are held in private collections throughout the world. Active pieces for sale may be viewed by appointment. Previously, I practiced law in Texas working for Fortune 50 energy companies: Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, El Paso Corp, and The Coastal Corporation. I represented these clients in civil and criminal disputes in courts and agencies throughout the United States, managing large scale complex commercial litigation.
