Done well, the college search can be a terrific growth experience for the student and can create some wonderful memories for the entire family. But too often, the process causes tremendous stress. With over 3,500 U.S. colleges and universities, finding the right fit can seem overwhelming. A poor college match can be costly, both in financial and emotional terms. I will help navigate the course to great-fit choices for each individual. Selecting a college is one of the first adult choices in life. My focus will be on helping the student explore his/her unique background, values, talents, interests and goals, then develop a target list of schools. I spend 25% of my time visiting college campuses, so I can draw on first-hand knowledge. Working through the selection and application process can actually be a good first step to being successful once in college. Parental support and guidance are important, but the student has to “own” the process. My role is to serve as a guide, and have some fun along the way! I am a member of the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the National College Advocacy Group (NCAG), and the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC).
