About Debra Fowler

The personal and professional experiences of serving as a U.S. Army soldier, a boots-on-the-ground classroom teacher, and now as executive director of History UnErased have shaped my understanding that visibility and representation can be revolutionary. From the earliest days of preparing to found History UnErased, we were steadfast in ensuring our curriculum contextualized the unfolding story of America to include LGBTQ history as it intersects with race, gender, and nationality. And now, I feel a sense of urgency, every day, to get History UnErased's "Intersections & Connections" curriculum in more and more mainstream US history and social studies classrooms across the country because I know, from first-hand experience, that our curriculum is affirming lives, it is changing lives, and most importantly it is saving lives.
