Dr. Debra Harris is a researcher, product developer, designer, and educator, currently serving as a Professor in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Baylor University. A leading advocate for evidence-based design, she integrates interventional research to inform design decisions, optimizing the built environment for occupant health and well-being. Dr. Harris' interdisciplinary research explores the impact of environmental factors on user experience and outcomes, with a focus on health and wellness, sustainability, productivity, safety, and cost efficiency. Her work on materials and health examines the transmission of microbial and chemical contaminants within built environments, contributing to advancements in safer and more sustainable design practices. As the director of the Environmental Forensics and Material Science Laboratory, Dr. Harris leads research in environmental material testing, product lifespan assessment, durability, and performance evaluation.
