To Whom It May Concern: Re: Debra Sampson During my time at the CBC I had the privilege of working with many people – but I can say without hesitation that if I were building a team today, Debra would be my first pick. Debra worked with me during challenging times at CBC – internal downsizing and competition for scarce resources at external funds. Stress and deadlines were a way of life: the norm, not the exception. Through all this Debra was the definition of ‘grace under pressure’. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe Debra: capable, creative, patient, pleasant, resourceful … the list is endless. I was always confident that if a task were delegated to Debra, it would be done. Debra demonstrated a maturity and diplomacy that I suspect she cultivated while working for Vice-Presidents. She could deal with starving (sometimes pathetic) independent producers, their (sometimes arrogant, usually assertive) lawyers – and all the layers of bureaucracy at a Crown Corporation.
