About Declan da Barp
Declan Da Barp (he/him) is a freelance journalist, communications specialist, and documentary filmmaker. While pursuing his journalism and history studies at Carleton University he started his career in the sports media landscape. In 2017, he became the colour commentator for the University of Ottawa Gee Gees men’s and women’s hockey teams. The following year he was the voice of the U Sports women’s soccer National Championship in Ottawa. Thanks in part to his performance, Declan became the full-time Play-by-Play announcer of the Women’s soccer team. Recently, Declan has begun to diversify his portfolio. In the summer of 2020, he became the Director of Communications with the University of Ottawa Gee Gee’s men’s hockey team. As a multimedia storyteller, Declan’s work can be found in The Canadian Premier League.com, The Charlatan, and Capital Current.
