About Declan Kintu

I’m a software engineer who transitioned into AI engineering and co-founded theGarage, where we are developing Kazi AI, an AI-driven recruitment platform focused on transparent talent-to-opportunity matching. Many hiring systems still obscure the process for candidates. We are changing that by providing job seekers with live rankings, relative positions in the queue, instant match scores, and real-time status updates. This way, the process feels more like a transparent meritocracy rather than an application black hole. Before founding theGarage, I spent several years building software and AI systems in the banking, applied AI, and education sectors. At Stanbic Bank Uganda, I supported agent banking platforms that handled nearly $210 million in monthly digital transactions and helped migrate over 300 applications to cloud infrastructure. Later, I developed generative AI solutions at Apziva and worked on AI adoption, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), hybrid search, AI agents, and governance at Durham College.I am passionate about creating products that solve real operational problems, rather than just delivering polished interfaces. Currently, I am focused on making the hiring process more transparent for both candidates and recruiters, and on building a scalable company around that vision. I’m open to discussing AI innovation, fintech evolution, and emerging technologies. Feel free to connect!
