About Declan McTaggart

While I’m a Master Electrician, certified in four different countries, my true passion is people and organizational management. As Regional Service Manager, at Canem Systems, I currently lead the Vancouver, British Columbia service team – a lot of my days involve organizing people, giving advice, and solving problems. I work to create stronger organizational dynamics by bridging gaps between different departments to establish an overall more efficient and positive work culture – and believe that business success and operational efficiency comes from the inside out. As a leader, I build strong, cohesive teams, create a culture of accountability, and advocate for open communication and work-life balance. I coach and mentor by setting examples, observing and giving feedback, and actively listening. I believe that understanding what makes different people tick and how each one learns or is motivated, is part of fostering a healthy working environment – and key to being a good manager. On both a personal and professional level, I am about always progressing, setting goals in areas I wish to improve, and taking the action necessary to make these improvements. I enjoy listening to audio books, regularly take courses and attend conferences to be a better leader, mentoring within the trades and keeping up with the latest industry codes and practices.
