About Deco Bancillon

Deco Bancillon is an award-winning journalist and a reputation specialist. For more than 10 years, I have worked as an economic and political journalist based in Brasilia. My experience in journalism brought me many milestones, such as covering three presidential elections and traveling abroad for special coverages. As a result of this work, I was twice awarded with the ExxonMobil Journalism Award, the most prestigious and acknowledged in Brazilian journalism. In 2015, I was invited to work for the second largest PR and Public Affairs company in Brazil. Since then, I have been working in Reputation Management, Crisis Management, Government Relations, Media Relations, and Corporate Communications. My experience also includes political consultancy and more than hours of executive training. My background in executive training ranges from media training, crisis management, and mock depositions – when strategies are created to advise clients in dealing with on-the-spot situations, such as testifying at public hearings and Parliamentary committees of inquiry (CPIs). My political work also brought me the opportunity to serve at the Brazilian Presidency as director of digital content, helping to shape Michel Temer’s administration narrative. In this position, I personally managed a team of journalists, advertisers, designers, and business analysts to create professional and reliable official content for Brazilian Presidency’s social media. Our goals were to promote and clarify controversies such as social security reform and new labor law – both currently in effect in Brazil. After leaving the government, I worked as director for two of the 10 biggest PR agencies in Brazil, and since 2020, I am leading Bancillon Comunicação, a boutique consultancy company focused on executive training, public relations, and public affairs.
