My broad experience base allows me to adapt to varying health settings. Having a lifelong love of learning, I encourage new challenges that will increase my knowledge and expand my experience base. I treat common acute problems and manage chronic long term health issues. Establishing rapport and educating clients and their families is a strength I possess that promotes better patient outcomes and satisfaction.I practiced as a registered nurse for in the acute hospital setting in various fields for 23 years before furthering my education to practice as a nurse practitioner. My previous experience as an nurse practitioner was in the Internal Medicine setting. I have been practicing most recently in the long term care settings providing psychiatric services. I thrive in environments where being a team player is valued; everyone working together, being flexible and adaptable to ensure patient’s needs are met. Effective collaboration with overseeing physician is important to me to ensure united plan for safe interventions. An example of my flexible, team player experience involved stepping into a well established internal medicine practice of a doctor that had been on extended leave. The practice was suffering without a provider, clientele was diminishing as weeks turned into months and income lost. In efforts to maintain the practice, I stepped in as sole provider. I was able to keep the practice thriving until decisions were made by the physician to retire.
