About Dee Estep

I am a Principal with CLA’s Construction and Real Estate group, the firm’s Real Estate Leader for Texas, and the Dallas Office Tax Leader. I have more than 20 years of experience providing tax and consulting services to privately held businesses and their owners. I focus primarily on serving construction contractors, real estate developers, private equity funds and their families. Background I graduated from Baylor in 2003 and started my career in public accounting at a small local CPA firm, CPWR, LLP, which had a client focus in construction and real estate. For the next 13 years I gained a wide range of valuable experience in assurance, tax, general ledger management and consulting, but eventually focused on the tax side of the practice. In 2016, CPWR, LLP joined CLA and my team and I became a part of the CLA family. I have worked with many of my clients my entire 20 year career. Technical Experience • Focus in multi-state tax compliance, with clients having work in all 50 states • Partnership tax compliance - carried interest and waterfall calculations • Tax savings consulting including cost segregation planning, like kind exchange planning, use of federal and state tax credits, and asset disposition plans • Family office, estate and tax liability consulting • Tax position, IRS tax appeal and legislative update consulting
