About Deeksha Sharma

I’m an Urban Planner and Architect with nearly two years of combined professional experience in urban planning and architectural projects. I hold a Master’s in Urban and Rural Planning from IIT Roorkee and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from DEI Agra—both awarded with gold medals. Currently, I am working as a Research Associate at IIT Roorkee on a project focused on preparing Zonal Development Plans for the Patna Metropolitan Area. I’ve also contributed as a Theme Expert to the GoAL project on gender-oriented climate adaptation. My Master’s dissertation, titled "Strategic Planning for Urban Green Spaces in the City of Agra," focused on analysing spatial disparities in green space distribution concerning population density and per capita green cover. The study proposed actionable strategies to enhance urban green equity through stakeholder engagement and inclusive planning approaches. My work spans environmental planning, policy research, spatial analysis, and sustainable development. I have presented two distinct research works—one at an international conference, and another at an APN international workshop involving participants from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Japan. One of my research papers is also published in the Journal of Contemporary Urban Affairs. I’m passionate about building inclusive and resilient cities through data-driven, equity-focused planning. Let’s connect to explore ideas, opportunities, or collaborations in urban development and public policy.
