I am currently a Professor (Materials Chemistry) in the Department of Chemical Sciences at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). Current research is based on inter-disciplinary concepts involved in chemistry along with a physical and biological approaches to developing new nanomaterials for: • Harnessing solar energy – Current project encompasses formation of new hybrid perovskites for use in 3rd generation solar cells. • Directly storing solar energy in “solar batteries:” – Coupling energy storage with energy capture by use of novel semiconductors that are photoactive and redox active. • Formation of industrially applicable fine chemicals through either photocatalysis and/or electrocatalysis – Current project involves use of electrocatalysis for simultaneous reduction of CO2 and formation of fine chemicals such as H2O2. • Efficient universal drug delivery by formation of novel biocompatible inorganic structures.
