About Deepa Malavalli

I have always been passionate about literature, writing, theoretical & applied linguistics, education, the learning process, and Western and Eastern Philosophy. In Germany, I earned a Magister Artium degree in Modern Philology with majors in English literature and linguistics and Post-Colonial Literature, German and Second Language Acquisition. My minor was in General Pedagogy and Pedagogy in Developing Countries. I also got myself trained in Waldorf Pedagogy, creative teaching methods, Special Needs Education, and teaching English and German as a second language. I teach English Composition to US and multicultural adult learners at the English Department / USF College of Arts and Sciences and English. My teaching style includes an individualized learning environment, student centered instruction, offering opportunities for a creative English language learning environment. I assess my student's progress and offer regular feedback to all my students. Apart from the above, I believe it is very important to retain one's health and happiness as much as possible. I am a Yoga and Meditation instructor from the Sivananda Yoga tradition. Since the sister science of Yoga is Ayurveda, I studied Ayurveda at the California College of Ayurveda and became an Ayurvedic Health Educator. I continued my healthcare education and studied Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, graduating with a Master of Science degree in Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine from the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa.
