About Deepak John

Hello, One of the highlights of my work have been to see innovations make a difference - innovations that improve people’s lives & livelihoods at Selco Foundation to innovations that drive green transitions at Technopolis. I have received training in Energy and Climate Policy at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU)with underpinnings in innovation and transition studies. These experiences and exposures have turned me into a firm believer in the transformative power of innovation. Having worked in a range of professions, I am building expertise in energy and net zero policies. Among the spectrum of mitigation approaches, I am inclined towards ‘Techno-optimism’ school of thought that suggests technology and innovation choices are instrumental to achieving environmental goals. As you may have noticed already, my career path has been unconventional, marked by periods of exploration and reflection. I have taken up roles in programme, research and policy working in diverse institutions including think tanks, international non-profits, and consultancies across South and South East Asia, Africa and Europe. I am grateful to all these experiences that allowed me to do impactful work and shaped me in the process. If you align with some of my work in energy, climate, net zero or anything in between.
