About Deepak Sangwan

I am currently a Scientific Researcher at Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) in Romania, where I focus on experimental studies involving 1 PW and 10 PW laser pulses interacting with solid targets. My primary research area is laser-driven proton acceleration, exploring various target configurations and mechanisms. In addition, I support visiting users in executing high-intensity laser experiments in the 1 PW experimental area. Previously, I completed my PhD in Experimental Plasma Physics at the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), India, where I conducted in-depth investigations on plasma flow and turbulence in the Scrape-Off Layer (SOL) of the ADITYA tokamak. My research examined the effects of gas puffing and magnetic helicity on SOL plasma flows. Over the years, I have developed a broad range of experimental and technical skills in High-power laser experiments and fusion grade plasma experiments in tokamaks. Moreover, I am proficient in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, Origin, CERN ROOT, VISIT, and MDSplus. My work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and I’ve contributed both as an independent researcher and as a part of large, multidisciplinary collaborations. I’ve also served as a mentor to students and have taught in summer schools at IPR.
