Leaders have a bias towards action. An important trait of a good leader, this lesson in leadership stresses on the importance of turning ideas into tangible action plans. Throughout my 28+ years in sales and marketing, I have embraced this philosophy to achieve numerous successes for organisations and teams that I have led. A key aspect of my leadership style is empowering team members to think boldly, take calculated risks, and move forward with confidence. Excited by the prospect of tackling complex challenges, I commenced my career with Roto Pumps and progressed through positions of increasing authority with several reputed organisations, including Fiat India, Patel Roadways, Franke India, and Kohler India. With all these companies, I took action to make ideas happen and capitalise on promising opportunities. This ability to ‘proactively execute’ helped me achieve several firsts for organisations.In 2010, I was offered the opportunity to make a positive difference in an upcoming industry, modular kitchens. I joined Sleek International, where I set up B2B projects’ vertical in 8 Indian cities and won large orders from real estate firms, once again demonstrating my ability to translate vision into results, through action. Also, I was able to orchestrate a partnership with one of India’s most well-known chefs for promoting the brand. My brand equity building efforts helped Sleek International get noticed by Asian Paints, who acquired a controlling stake in the company, in 2014. Currently, I am Associate VP of Sales and Marketing at Godrej & Boyce. Here, I bring my leadership experiences to successfully navigate challenging dynamics. Validation of my achievements comes from the company’s consistent growth. In addition to the above, my contributions to the building material/home improvement industry have been recognised through several awards, including: ‘100 Most Talented Retail Professionals of India’ award, Asia Retail Congress, 2015 ‘Kitchen Professional of the Year’ award, Bracecorp Publications (during Indian Kitchen Congress 2013) When I am not helping businesses grow, I enjoy travelling and playing table tennis.
