About Deidre Burns
My work passion is Dysphagia Assessment and Management. I have been co-chair of the Dysphagia Assessment and Treatment Network with Dietitians of Canada for more than 10 years. I authored the DC "Screens and Assessments" online Dysphagia Course, as well as the PEN Dysphagia Background. I also contributed to and reviewed the Role paper “Defining the Role of the Dietitian in Dysphagia Assessment and Management” (March 2015) and Competencies document “Competencies for Dysphagia Assessment and Management in Dietetic Practice” (Jan 2019). I was also a reviewer of the “Professional Practice in Dysphagia Management” and “Nutrition Care Process for Dysphagia” on-line courses.
