About Deirdre Coley

The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” - Winston S. Churchill Serving as an Application Developer and Database Administrator for over 29 years has posed me to exceptionally serve as an insightful and forward thinking Data Management Analyst. For many years, I collaborated with stakeholders and management to gather business requirements and develop application software to capture validate and clean data to inform and report business workflows. As I continued my journey as a developer, I then realized that my application’s efficiency and data integrity did not only depend on the software applications, but also the design, performance and security of the repository that contains the data. Therefore, I also became a Database Administrator that has an invested dedication to ensure that I am achieving the following:• Normalizing the database.• Developing functions and procedures to detect and report data integrity issues.• Crafting and testing Backup and Recovery procedures.• Installing the latest database patches.• Implementing the industry standards in security.• Monitoring and fine tuning the database for the optimum performance. As I progress in my career, my passion has grown from just capturing, storing and reporting data to using qualitative, quantitative, predictive and prescriptive data analysis techniques in order to improve business strategies. My passion and my past experiences have led me to seek a job as a Data Management Analyst. I am able to quickly and efficiently retrieve; confirm integrity and visually display the truths that the data is speaking about our business. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from University of North Carolina at Wilmington and currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Data Analytics from the University of Maryland University College.
