About Deirdre Ragan

Leveraging my passion for knowledge and people to mentor and develop connections in higher ed. Applying my skills for research, project management, and recruitment to create opportunities for students, colleagues, and the institution. From my summer research at Los Alamos National Lab to my years in Product Research and Development at PPG Industries, my love of research, science, project management, and data analysis was solidified. Volunteer leadership opportunities have also shaped my skill set. With years as a recruiter and interviewer for Rice University Admissions Office, as a tutor and board member of various literacy and early childhood education groups, and as a organizer and board member for a local career coaching non-profit, I have honed my skills in teaching, project management, recruitment, communication, and public speaking. I previously joined my passion for children and education working as a preschool teacher and facility director. In my current role as Director of The Citadel Honors Program, I apply all of the above skills while I mentor and support amazing students of all majors and career tracks. Project management, recruitment, and communication skills are vital as I work with Admissions and Financial Aid to attract even more talented students. In the Mechanical Engineering department, I focus on teaching, mentoring, and independent research with the students.
